SOCCS follows the "Emergent Curriculum' way of teaching. This is a child-centred and interest based curriculum with a strong emphasis on play and investigation. We support children's interests and extend on these interests to provide children opportunities for further exploration and learning. The daily program is made up of play areas and group times that involve the children to take part of to broaden their learning and development. Children lead the program while staff are their to support and guide the play and learning involved.

What sort of food do the children receive each day? Do they receive a hot meal for lunch?

S.O.C.C.S. uses a children’s catering company  “Kids Gourmet Food”  that caters for children in child care centres. We have been using this company for for over 1 year and are extremely happy with their service. A dietician goes over all of their menus prior to the company sending them to us to ensure that the children are receiving the correct amount of protein, dairy, carbohydrate they need to keep their little bodies active and healthy. The menus are displayed each week in the kitchen window. The company provides food for those children who have specific food limitations or allergies.

The children receive morning tea, a cooked lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea. They also receive all their drinks for the day. The food is a mixture of textures, colours and cultures. We do not provide breakfast for children but are happy for you to bring it and a staff member will sit with your child and interact with him or her while he or she is eating.
